What do we stand for?
The Learner First has a clear vision of what public education could and should look like in the United States. We know that public education works, that schools are full of talented teachers, and that all students can learn and find their place in the world.
Having worked with schools and districts to create sustainable success stories, we have committed ourselves to continuing to fight for public education, for teachers and, most of all, for each and every learner.
How do we do this?
We design learning environments that engage every learner. Where students are known by their teachers, and where their learning is personalized and relevant to them. And we measure those outcomes with a rich assessment system that captures more than just test scores.
We empower educators as trusted professionals. Trusting teachers is the first step in supporting their work with learners. We support schools and districts to tap into teacher expertise on curriculum, student assessment, and pedagogical innovation.
We center leaders and administrators on what really matters: learners. No matter what role you play in the district, your job has a real impact on the lives of learners. By refocusing on that idea, we create and support a working environment that is more effective and rewarding.
We bring in parents, families and the community. No one knows learners like their parents and families, and we make sure that expertise is brought into the classroom in a meaningful, actionable way. We work with districts to identify the community leaders and stakeholders who are supporting kids, in order to amplify these relationships and ensure that learners have all the support they need inside and outside of the classroom.
